Updates...

A huge THANK YOU to those who attended the workday on Saturday to work on Community Projects. A good number of pillowcases for Transition House were completed, as well as a few Christmas tablecloths for Wheels to Meals. So thank you to all who attended and worked hard all day, as well as those who could not attend but dropped by to turn in what they had done at home. I could not attend as I was teaching on Saturday, so thanks to Monica W. who sent me this photo, showing some of the pillowcases that were completed.
EDIT - Wed. Oct.1.- 70 pillowcases have been delivered to Transition House and Gignoo House - they were gratefully and joyfully received!   :)

Again, I apologize for not being able to photograph the program and Show and Tell at our September meeting. Thanks to Lee M. who sent me this photo from her phone of Mary B's beautiful Storm at Sea quilt. Mary does such lovely work and we are so happy that she continues to travel from Grand Manan to attend our meetings! (She gets the prize for travelling the furthest distance!)

If anyone who brought projects for Show and Tell in September has a good clear digital photo of your piece(s) please send me the photo(s) and I will add them to our Show and Tell Gallery.

There are some new quilts listed in our "Quilts for Sale." Be sure to check them out, and if you know of someone who is looking to purchase a quilt, please consider directing them here!

I hope you've been able to attend a Quilt Show or two in the last few weeks- there have been several nearby- KV's annual show, and both Sussex and Calais this past weekend. If you are travelling to Nova Scotia this coming weekend, you might be able to take in one or both of the following shows - one in Halifax and the other in the Mahone Bay area. I cannot get the IWK Show poster to load here but the info is all on the sidebar. Below is the poster for the Mahone Bay Guild's show.

Celebrate International Quilting Day!

Tomorrow, Saturday March 15th is International Quilting Day. I hope you are planning some "quilty activity" for tomorrow to celebrate! Maybe you are piecing some blocks or doing some quilting, working on a charity quilt, or getting things ready to bring to our Community Projects workday next Saturday, March 22. Maybe you're going to visit one of our local Quilt Shops - that's a good idea too ! (Diane at Country Crafts and Curtains is having a little sale to celebrate the day!! Why not drop by?) Whatever your choice, enjoy International Quilting Day!

If you'd like to relax and take another "Armchair Tour", click here and here to visit the Palm Springs Quilt Show 2014, courtesy of Paulette who blogs at Sweet P Quilting and Creations.

Also you can enjoy free viewing of past seasons of The Quilt Show with Ricky Tims and Alex Anderson this weekend. Yep, you read that right. There are169 episodes just waiting for you to view them for free! Just click here and you'll be taken right to The Quilt Show. If you aren't already a member, you can register for free just for this weekend and watch their wonderful shows to your hearts delight!! It ends Sunday night (the 16th) at midnight Pacific time (so that's actually 4a.m. Monday morning for us.) So get busy and start watchin'!!

And while I'm at it, Happy St. Patrick's Day! See you Tuesday night at our March meeting!

Open House!

This Saturday, Sept. 14th, there will be an Open House at the new quilt shop in town at  572 New Maryland Highway. Shop owner Jo-Anne opened The Christmas Crab Quiltery earlier this summer and the response so far has been wonderful. This Saturday she will hold an Open House with a "Meet and Greet" from 1-3p.m. This is an opportunity to check out the line-up of upcoming classes, see class samples, meet the teachers and get info on classes, as well as see all the new fabrics and products. (Double punches [ie 20% savings] on your customer rewards cards all day long, with class registration too!) There will be refreshments and a lovely door prize as well - a kit for a quilt - the pattern and all fabrics for top and binding!! Woohoo! Jo-Anne lives more than an hour away and is committed to travelling to Fredericton to make this new endeavor a success so let's show her lots of love and support by turning out to the Open House!
Beginning next week, The Christmas Crab Quiltery will have new business hours: Tuesday to Friday 10a.m. to 6p.m. and Saturday 10a.m. to 3p.m.

Remember we have to support our local shops if we want them to be there for us. As much fun as it is to travel and visit new shops, we need our local shops too! They depend on us to keep them going, so please support them. Country Crafts and Curtains at  334 York Street is our other local source of  quilting fabric and supplies. Both these shops are small, but jam-packed with wonderful fabrics, patterns, threads and all other things "quilt-y". Make these shops your first stop when you need supplies for this wonderful hobby we all enjoy so much...
